Why do they insist on every new phone being bigger than the phones before them? I don't mind folding. I think it's cool, and a nice way to get a useful space. But I have big hands, and I can't use my iphone 17 now without two hands. This is even wider before unfolding. Who wants bigger phones? Who is like, "damn I wish I had a tablet that I could fold up and still barely fit in my pocket"? I want smaller phones. The…

When you're old enough to need reading glasses, larger is better.

I'd love a tiny phone. I just can't see it anymore.

I'm surprised they weren't able to figure out face id and had to go back to touch id.

Apple often aggressively cuts scope like this on first generation products and then brings back the features in the future updates. Maybe it’s to provide a reason to upgrade, maybe it’s just good project management but iPhone Duo 2 having “dual FaceID” sounds like something Apple would do.

Look at the low end iPhone’s slowing getting better screens, TouchID, and then FaceID.

Buying this immediately and getting rid of my laptop, going full AI native to do all my work. Never sitting in front of a laptop again.

Congratulations on your self promotion into management.

For a second there from the name I was really hopeful that iPhone Duo _could_ have been the replacement for my iPhone 13 Mini.

Others wrote complicated or bs jokes, here is my SIMPLE tip:

It has to change otherwise people would not buy new. Size can not change randomly so it has 2 ways: decreasing and later it becomes an iwatch, and tablet becomes a phone: this is stupid because harder to increase price.

So increase it is. If you do not like it, use a watch+earpiece as a phone.

Yeah. A foldable that is the size of the 12 mini so that you can use it with one hand but still fold out to watch something etc.

But instead we got the largest screen before unfolding…

One day the stockpiles of iPhone 13 minis will deplete to the point where making new products in that form factor is economically viable. Until then, off to eBay we go. There are more than enough sitting around completely unused. You aren't missing out on much with 5 iPhone generations these days.

Also clinging on to my 12 mini in spite of decreasing battery capacity.

If there was a 15+ mini, I would’ve upgraded a long time ago.

Google and Samsung have been at this for years. Nothing here is actual innovation, is it?

I mean that is the business. These companies are in the business of ordering parts from components vendors and leasing floor space to assemble them after all. Folding screen is probably something you can order from many companies in shenzen at scale right now (or whichever chinese city is the "cell phone screen" hub, might not be shenzen).
