Pity they still haven't finished adding support for proper database backends. SQLite is the source of all my problems with Jellyfin as it buckles under the weight of my library, behaves badly on CoW filesystems, and prevents scaling my instance to multiple nodes.

By using a bunch of CLI tools and self-written scripts. I don't use streaming (though, mpv can likely handle it). Prefer to have all media I use locally. Don't watch video on my phone, either.

OK, I understand now; you mean Jellyfin is only used by your family, because you prefer to use the CLI instead. I didn't parse it that way initially.

You don't need to connect your TV, you can just use an Android TV stick such as a Thompson Stick

As other have said the apps for devices is still the issue with Jellyfin. For TV you pretty much have to use Kodi and all the decent theme require a surprising amount of other plug-ins to work... Anyone know of a decent theme for Kodi that won't fall over next time it updates? I just need "Resume Watching", "Newly Added" and alphabetical lists.

Wholphin is a great Android TV app, way better than the "original".

I get it’s a personal thing but yeah I’d still separate them. Tv != Movie.

I separate everything by decade > type > year (of start date). Don't even keep multiple seasons in the same folder if they are from different years. Still ends up mixing all types within a decade.

But I prefer splitting things by decades as a first level. The distinction of cinema, direct-to-video, TV show, TV movie, web and others isn't really that important to me.
