You are partially right. We used to collectively throw people out when they were exposed as corrupt. Now it works like this: Republicans get called out by Democrats, Democrats get called out by Republicans and Democrats. And if that goes on long enough Democrats will start overlooking their own transgressions, I see that starting already.
It's amazing that in a discussion about how bad corruption has become or is perceived to have become under this particular Republican administration, that there's several people hand-wringing about the Democrats and how they've been corrupt, or they're worse, or now "what if they get hypothetically get worse as a result of this?". Anything to avoid having to take direct action against those currently in power, curren…

For some quick and easy evidence, you could look at the history of the Post Office. USPS has always been the poster child for efficient and effective government agencies. Despite claims otherwise, the agency still manages to deliver letters and other postage to areas private industry like FedEx, UPS, et. al. would never touch. Unfortunately, over the years, Republican Congresses and Presidents have repeatedly attempt…
Oh no, I don't need evidence that governments are dirty hives of corrupt incompetent criminals, leeches, and parasites.
> Yes possibly so I'd have to see the evidence for that,…
Then?

From that very same link: "Please don't comment about the voting on comments. It never does any good, and it makes boring reading."
Vote however you want, but I'm sick of people abusing the flag feature.
At least build up some reputation before dropping hot takes. It’s not like this is Reddit where you’re stuck in a catch 22 of not participating in a lot of serious subreddits without a level of karma already, which can only be gained by engaging with the unserious bits.

Don't disagree, take your example of using cryptocurrency to massively break banking regulations plus the ability to make rug pulls a known feature. Now what do you expect democratic politicians to actually do about it since they have no issues working with the crypto industry while taking their donations? Gillibrand is a great example of this, crying about Trump getting rich off cryptoscams but not willing to actual…
You sound like a disgruntled tankie, no? Is that what's happening here?

The implication is that even if I might agree with you, we ought not be subjecting each other to incoherent rants in lieu of substantive arguments. Just don't say anything, if the only thing you have to say is They Watch Fox News. Even if you're inclined to believe the conclusions, this should recognizably be a silly rant and I don't want to live in a world where we justify sloppy arguments if we agree with the concl…
When you vaguepost, you shouldn't be surprised when you receive follow-up comments asking for clarification, which was what I was doing. The most charitable interpretation, as another commenter noted, was that you were essentially saying "both sides bad". > Even if you're inclined to believe the conclusions, this should recognizably be a silly rant ... If it triggers your defenses to the point where you can't see tha…
In the age of LLMs, it's pure negligence to let your perspective be this uninformed and low-resolution. And it's violence against the attentions of others to share it with them, to be hyperbolic.
If this is your honest, best faith rendering why 50% of the country votes differently than you, then I recommend you leave politics alone. If you won't try and understand why people are the way they are, and instead are going with "they're all too stupid to know they're being fooled, unlike me" then yes, this is an unhealthy worldview which can damage your sanity.

> both sides Your type has only one line, don't you? Tell you what, the next time somebody like Bernie Sanders comes along, don't stab him in the back a thousand times. Then you might actually have a chance at beating that gameshow host one day!
The same Bernie Sanders who backed Fetterman and Platner? Bernie Sanders is where he is because he's all talk and fluff, and not because of backstabbing. Meanwhile, your bothsidesism is actually backstabbing any progressive cause that doesn't reach your high bar.

Unprosecuted / unconvicted corruption is not corruption. That’s your position? Yeah, I’m all set here. Talk weird circles with another user.
That's literally not what I said. Your position seems to be that if it can be corruption, it is corruption.
Both your interpretation of my position, and your expression of your own, are indecipherable by any charitable standard.
Make more sense, sooner.

There exists unprosecuted corruption for sure, just like any other crime, but claiming that it’s somehow happening on an outsized scale vs expected normal baseline? Based on what? Listening to people pointing it out who have everything to gain from selling this narrative? Conjecture and vibes?
Again, things can be complicated, even bad. That doesn’t mean they’re corrupt until there’s credible evidence specifically of corruption taking place.

How do we determine that there’s corruption? If we did that by just pointing out that something looks or feels like it, why not treat all crime this way? There is a reason we created a judicial system. Things very often look and feel completely not how they really are. There exists unprosecuted corruption for sure, just like any other crime, but claiming that it’s somehow happening on an outsized scale vs expected no…
Because government and law enforcement should be held to a higher standard.
Here’s the closest and easiest reach to obvious regulatory capture from the other scumbag party:
“I am concerned that the size of some of these institutions becomes so large that it does become difficult for us to prosecute them when we are hit with indications that if we do prosecute—if we do bring a criminal charge—it will have a negative impact on the national economy, perhaps even the world economy.”
Lots of Americans are aware of regulatory capture.
Yet: folks aren’t even discussing fixing it yet. Everyone is just pointing and mentioning, like a meteor is coming.
Where does this fall in your argument? This looks more than “complicated” - whatever that means (please do better).
