I'm sorry to break it to you, but Neovim isn't the best project to donate to. The lead maintainer supports numerous far right figures and recently went ballistic in the issue tracker when someone merely suggested removing a quote of endorsement on the Neovim website from someone who literally compared brown people to wolves that should be shot for the protection of the "human" population.

There was no pushback for the toxic behavior from his fellow maintainers, as the team includes both a speaker at a conference hosted by the person the lead maintainer so vehemently defended, and a Palantir employee who proudly displays their employer on their GitHub profile.
FOSS donations are awesome, but maybe not Neovim. I think Vim is a better choice for donations. All of the money goes to helping children in Uganda.

Sorry to be that guy, but... Please consider donating a significant amount to them, given that they have been a cornerstone of your very successful career. I did something similar in the past, in relation to Ubuntu, and I never regretted it, even if that money would have been very useful if spent in other ways.
I couldn't find anything about donation on the site. Just in case I'm blind, is there one or is subscribing or getting a gift certificate the only way? I should also definitely put lwn on my "charity list".

Nobody has ever asked us to do that; I take it you would prefer a larger line spacing? If nothing else, we can easily add a customization option for that.

Times New Roman (and STIX Two Text, Libertinus Serif clones) has been designed with increased x-height while keeping the same line height, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Times_New_Roman#/media/File:Ti...
It's normal for it to appear denser vertically. Your example of increased line height looks suitable for subheadings, but in no way represents the typographic tradition of its use.
