I get the joke but it really should be.
It's enough money for a good life and some measure of luxury, and presumably it will force prices down so things like housing will become more affordable, but it isn't enough to buy governments or private sex islands.
Unless the price of governments and private sex islands also goes down. But even then the market is more competitive and something something free market. I admit I'm not an economist, it just seems right. Then again sometimes full socialist revolution also seems right.

#7Somewhere on the order of $25M, adjustable for inflation. Enough to live darn comfortably off the interest for one’s entire life even in a mediocre stock market, and to leave a heck of a legacy for one’s dependents. Not enough to single-handedly change the course of an entire democracy just by throwing money around.

Everything above 999 goes to the government. In return the would-have-been a billionare gets their name on a park. Hopefully that gets 999ers to care for their parks as they are the only symbol of status
