The funny thing is I bet ending birthright citizenship is an amendment that could actually be passed. You don't have to be a virulent racist to think the context has changed when you can get almost anywhere in the world in about 24 hours. (I'm not sure where I stand on it but I can at least see an argument for revisiting the question)

If you're late enough in your pregnancy that giving birth during your vacation is realistic, you're likely to be refused boarding or turned back at the border. Birthright citizenship tourism is much smaller of an issue than stated.

If what you say is true, why not end birthright citizenship?

If what you say is false, why not end birthright citizenship?

Not trying to make a political point at all and perhaps a controversial take. But, it’s specifically and maybe implicitly by design. Meaning they made this way precisely so you have to reapply so they can change their mind or block you out later. Nothing about getting a visa is permanent and you’re fully at risk when you move here with that type of status. If you evaluate the situation that’s always been the case.

The leaving part is not the issue, as you try to immigrate into a country you're subject to the rules that country sets. You're always free to not immigrate into that country (this is not about asylum). The issue here is that, if you just left the country to do everything the country asked you, you are now in limbo. For how long? No one can tell. Does this mean you lose your job? Maybe. And when you decide it's no lo…

You just described most if not all government functions in the US. Applied for a permit? Better know the right person to call if you ever want it to get approved

I love comments about "my country" who never identify it so you can't look it up to really understand what their "wonderful policies" are... Stopping immigration is a priority yes. A job would contribute equal taxes if a current permanent resident was doing it. Unemployment is an issue, there is no need for more immigration.

I'm not judging just debating the topic. I won't dox myself. If I ever need to visit US there is always a chance for your paramilitary police to take my phone and find anything and make an excuse. I am not here to defend something is better, I am saying it is different. Note that I never said I agree with the policy, I am saying it exists and why. From your comment you see people as tools for work supplementation. Im…

"dox yourself" by saying which country you live in? Dude, you're funny.

Yes immigrants are a tool. Immigration is a tool for countries to fulfill their interests. If a country needs carpenter, targeted immigration is a way to get carpenters while internal policies kick in to compensate for the gap (e.g. promote the specific trade).

Spreading culture is stupid. Successful countries nowadays are the most culturally/racially homogenous. The whole "diversity is a strength" is just a religious mantra that has been disproven by empirical data for decades now.

Like if your racist grampa got put in charge of US Treasuries, tell me how things would be worse.

How is Scott Bessent like a racist grandpa?

I apologize for not checking if his spawn had spawned yet. Beyond that which tenet are you taking issue with?

Or imagine if an employee works for you and this happens to them.

Hire Americans? Hundreds of thousands of tech workers have been laid off in the last two years. There are many skilled Americans on the job market. Foreign workers are here for the benefit of the United States, not as charity to the rest of the world, or as a source of cheaper labor for global employers seeking to undercut American wages.

So for those that don't know, it's quite common for a visa renewal to be required to leave the country. Depending on the visa, you might have to do this every year. So just imagine, having a normal job in the US and you're asked to leave to renew your visa and this stuff happens. That's no more appointment, not even a new date and you're now very likely unable to work and possibly can't even enter the country to get…

Imagine trying to find a job in your home country but you can’t because masses are being brought over to undercut you and your fellow countrymen. Inhumane.

Well it’s been 2 years since immigration has been massively curtailed so where are all the extra jobs they were taking? Have wages and employment rates gone up or have they gone down?

I'd say it's on the Trump administration being full of racists and white nationalists and wanting to deport immigrants. Why do you wonder if it's economic instead of the Trump administration's announced policies of stopping immigration, including unconstitutionally removing birthright citizenship?

I think many (if not most) countries in the developed world should reduce immigration, and usa in particular should abolish birthright citizenship. The first because a lower supply of labor is going to create breathing space for an entire working population who will see tremendous job upheaval due to AI automation. A lower aggregate demand on houses, services will also be welcome to take the fuel out of inflation, an…

These arguments only ever look at one side of the ledger, as if the immigrants only ever take jobs and tax money and houses. But immigrants also buy things and create demand, pay taxes and build houses. Looking at only one side is just pure nonsense and looking at both sides basically disproves your claim.

Your statement is patently false based on the historical record and current statistics.

[flagged]

Sorry, I was too busy flagging and killing your posts. A total of 4 in just a few minutes! A new record for me. So satisfying watching your posts immediately going grey after clicking 'flag'.

But seriously, anyone who has actually studied American history at a high school level knows you're posting nonsense, and that you're just a garden variety anti-immigration zealot. Your posts give you away.

Anyway, the burden of proof isn't on me. Your claim requires your evidence.
