I'm sure everyone's different but for me, weekdays on and weekends off seems to handle avoiding the tolerance. I don't need to be nearly as focused when I'm off work.

One should not question the seriousness of ADHD or the benefits of an appropriate treatment plan. One should question the rate of which it is diagnosed, and who is getting diagnosed.
One should ask if the benefits outweigh the costs regardless of arbitrary thresholds for diagnosis.
ADHD medications are generally safe, and many objections to their use appear to stem more from normative objections to medicating attention and behaviour than from evidence-based concerns about patient welfare.

It's nasty because of the assumption that someone who is taking medication has "buried the cause further", in other words, done something to paper over the rent in their psyche that could have been fixed some other way.
In my case, I had depression for no apparent reason, and I went through dynamic psychotherapy, which is basically about finding that reason. That failed, I got worse, and basically was disabled after a few years. I finally found a medication, venlafaxine, that actually worked. My depression abated, I was no longer disabled. It has well-known withdrawal effects, so I tapered off of it very gradually. When I stopped, I was no longer suffering major depression. There was no removal of any particular cause.

Most of the problems I would say are related to the modern isolated Nuclear family.
See that programmer sat next to you that is not a nice person? Well some kid had no choice but to have him as a parent.
Throw in a society that doesn’t value teachers and pays them below many other jobs and the kid spends all his day and evenings with no one to guide and nurture him or her.

I have first hand experience. Also "depression" is different from "chronic depression". You can experience the former as the direct result of some cause.
