Both exist. I’d imagine most HN commenters do not work for startup headed up by a founder. The majority work for larger companies where the CEO isn’t as hands on as a startup founder and is never seen in the workplace. I promise you there’s a reason the stereotype exists!

No. People don't speak like drunk linguinist on anonymous online forum. That's not "Perfectly normal rhetorical habits". It's either AI-assisted or someone desperatelly trying to impress "unknown people" with their non-existent intellect.

I had this hypothesis back in 2014 that all the communications from higher level managers could be replaced by a markov chain, because it was just variations on the same themes ("improve conditions", "make it easier to do....", " ". I never saw LLMs coming.

I have a friend who works a high-level management position, who told me that as long as results are delivered, management is doing their jobs 'by definition'. So if a manager is either horribly abusive or totally incompetent and his subordinates make up for it in some way, that the result is at least acceptable, nothing bad can happen to said manager, at least officially.

Only failure is actionable, in which case said managers will make a good effort to shift blame.

So if your boss is an idiot and an a-hole, and you have to work twice as hard because of it, you are enabling the bad working conditions he's subjecting you to.

Sure they do. I speak like this. Many others too. Evidence is in historical record. At this point it's super annoying for me to have my "AI wrote this" alarm trigger at my own language, as I'm writing...

Wasting your latin trying to impress others with nothingness causes the same revulsion, human or AI.

Previously, most people would save their effort for things that actually mattered. Take away the effort and this is what you get.

collective intelligence is not a superhuman intelligence. Markets solves the resource allocation problem, but it doesn't and realistically cannot be called intelligent (even tho it's been called wisdom of the crowds), in the same way that darwinian natural selection cannot be called intelligent design.

Yank on that thread harder, developers and engineers are not safe just because they rely on different patterns.

But once you've toppled the house of knowledge work, you'll find you can rebuild it easily because the foundation still exists, and it's the thing missing in this analysis; judgement.
