I do think your comment was creating an “us vs them” frame (“I’m with the author”) when my original commment was just trying to add color.

Anyone who puts references at the bottom of their reply and references them. Absolutely no one that does as it’s a pain. But the trend is growing.

If it’s pro-AI in stance, chances are it is.

You are being delusional. LLMs are extremely good at programming and mathematics, as well as many other tasks.

With an actual good programmer at the wheel, so it’s like saying SO is good at programming or GitHub is good at programming.

This analogy doesn't work. There is a material difference between SO and Github and a machine that can talk to you and understand you.

You may claim it doesn't understand you, then I can say, fine... a machine that perfectly and indistinguishably imitates a response made by an intelligent being that understands such that a difference cannot be measurably detected.

A few, yes. Just like there are woodworkers who only use hand tools out of principle. But most engineers will use LLMs on their side projects, and virtually all will for professional work.

I doubt that. The people I know who use LLMs write 85% of the code themselves. We might even see a "codepocalypse" where the companies using A.I. to write their code realize that the code is unmaintainable, developers that cannot maintain it are sacked and they desperately look for developers who never stopped writing code and maintained their proficiency.

I sincerely doubt we’ll see any such movement, but we’ll see!
