I'm so disappointed that The Standup was platforming him.
Finally got me to unsubscribe. I'm surprised that the whole crew of them were cool with reposting the snippet of DHH calling linux maintainers "clowns and goblins" amongst other things. https://x.com/thestanduppod/status/2091511392717213707?s=20

"The company you keep." Ah that's what we're calling using someone's FOSS nowadays?
Yes, if you're jumping on some hypetrain OSS distro built around a cult of personality and it has very few merits otherwise and that project's creator has racist views, absolutely yes. People's distro alignments are a little bit different than some small utilities or OSS libraries, nobody writes jokes like "how do you know someone uses libxml? They'll tell you" like they do for Gentoo, Arch, etc. But keep defending i…
To claim that it is super simple for everyone to transform Arch into Omarchy clones without reading the Omarchy repos and that everyone should just do that instead because of politics is beyond absurd.

> A bunch of terminally online people have decided to make stalking DHH into a personality/lifestyle aka A person should be able to espouse xenophobic and bigoted remarks without worrying about being criticized for it. "But won't someone think of the tech bro who incessantly talks out of his ass and punches down!!!!!"
People on the political right keep confusing freedom to say whatever you think with saying whatever you think with not having to deal with the consequences of speaking whatever you think.
DHH is free to blog about his racist beliefs and we are free to call him a racist.

Forced relocation is defined as a crime against humanity.
“when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population” which I don’t think this really clears, as objectionable as his comments may be

It's a political statement disguised as a FOSS project (which itself is fine, all software is political). The funders are not funding the development of a Linux distro, they are co-signing the political statement.

> which itself is fine, all software is political I don't mean to get distracted from the topic at hand, but is that really true? If I create my own software stack for the TRMNL display I received as a gift because I think it's fun and interesting, is that a political statement? What politics does that involve? If someone makes a small Rust library that implements some days structure and a few hundred people find it…

You're using the word "literally" very liberally here. Sending migrants back to their home countries is not ethnically cleansing.
Forced displacement of an ethnic group is one of the definitions of ethnic cleansing. It's also considered a crime against humanity.
Deporting immigrants whom presence is not a right is not ethnic cleansing.

He literally calls openly for the ethnic cleansing of undesirable populations from Europe. Just read his blog. There's no subtlety or nuance.
> calls openly for the ethnic cleansing That is not what he is doing and you know it. It's funny how people like to pretend that fake news somehow only originate from the right when in fact it's a method used by all the political sides. He calls for the removal of people who are bothering the general population at large because they occupy illegally the public spaces, defecate in the parks, set up illegal camps in th…
