AI has legitimately changed everything. It's not 2022 anymore. Try a recent LLM and set it to a coding task. It's impressive, despite its ethical baggage and psychological, environmental and psychological harm. But if if filed you in awe I think you need to get away from the keyboard. Things are happening in biology, astronomy, archaeology, engineering, that are far more awesome than software that can write code for you.

And if your only response to that is to be in awe of whatever part AI may have had in the process, you're still missing the point.

jQuery is certainly still used in a lot of production apps and they still release updates.

But most new web apps will use a flavor of React.

I really wish there was a way to filter out discussions about AI on HN. It feels like lately they take up a good 1/3 of posts on the front page. I don't want to hear about some new AI startup.

Personally, I've forked the hnrss project to create two separate feeds (ironically, quickly implemented using AI).

It just a basic filter based on keywords, but it helps.

AI has made me aware how opening a tab to HN is a compulsion I no longer truly enjoy. Especially after having made the conscious choice of leaving software engineering as a career, my time here is a mildly negative experience hoping for the random chance of finding a deeply technical post that is not about LLMs, or whose discussion does not devolve into discussion with Joe Rando on how much more productive he is lately.

Sure, it's a moral failing of mine, but by god I wish we had a little more diversity in topics.
