They would have to make a free chat interface that uses Chinese models. It isn't about the technical implementation, it's about the interface and the ease of use.
why? I'd bet there aren't that many people that would riot if they couldn't use chatgpt anymore.

Europe/Canada should ban chatgpt/anthropic and say "ok we will use chinese models for our vibe coding I guess" and watch the stock market implode overnight. Remenber when they tried to ban non-US citizens from using Fable? best to remove that sword of damocles now regardless

#995Won’t work out well for either side, namely citizens and leadership aside. Wearing my forecasting hat… Canada holding $200 billion in USA treasuries, one of the largest exporters of oil into the USA, and integrated supply chains for everyday goods. A fast and painful price shock is coming for every average American. Canada has and will continue to be very dependent on the USA. No amount of new trade partners can chan…
Australian beef is cheaper than Canadian beef, in Canada, the ocean is not the obstacle.

I know that this is insanely complex with everybody protecting their own economies, but I think this is where middle powers working together more strongly could help. Imagine that Canada, the EU, and Britain worked together as an economic NATO, where a tariff attack on one is a tariff attack on all. It would hurt the US much more to bully one of these economies.
UK used to have that kind of protection up until a few years ago, but they decided it was not worth it.

As a Canadian, I am willing to suffer if it means long term benefits. Carney is very popular for a reason.
You sure? Canada's economy is struggling as is. The healthcare system is holding on by a thread. You ready for unemployment to double? If there is a significant recession, tax reciepts go down and healthcare spending gets further cut.

Not absolutely everything. You can make a very strong negative claim without hyperbole, and be a more trusted source in the process.
Genuinely interested in understanding why you need this level of precision. To me it would seem you are removing some abstraction and getting to the details. If this something common in your line of work? E.g. in your peers? If that's the case, would you mind sharing the field you're active in? Do you have a hunch why you would need this level of detail e.g. Education, culture?

#999I get it, but tariffs will only make things more expensive for Canadians, too. I've got a better idea. 1) Repeal all DMCA-like laws. Make it explicitly legal to break a digital lock to repair a device, run custom code, install third-party parts, or just tinker and hack with your own devices and software. 2) Ban parts-pairing. Prohibit manufacturers (looking at you Apple & John Deere,) from using cryptographic seriali…

#1000Just at the right time when China is looking to expand its exports. People said that Trump was Putin's stooge, but he might have been Xi's. I'm concerned that governments worldwide are finding tarrifs to be a popular (and exciting!) way to exorbitantly increase the size of governments and goverment coffers which are then used for populist aims. We need to re-educate people that tarrifs are bad.
You think the tarrifs proceeds are going in the government coffers? Trump is officially billions richer since he became president for a second term. Officially.
