I worked on a side project. Basically tried to make a daily driver OS that prioritizes security and privacy. I used Arch Linux (BTW) and security Hardened it. You can flash a USB to boot it on a normal desktop. Free and Open Source, no guarantee it's without bugs though.

Why Hyprland? Since you're focusing on security, wouldn't a Rust-based WM/DE suit the project goals better, like Niri or COSMIC?

Great question, so Cicada.Os's security is LUKS, scopes, Helium policy, AFU/USB lock, kill switch, not necessarily compositor language. Hyprland is just the default desk engine for tiling and dock/icons. But, if you prefer Rust, you can go to Settings → Desktop session → niri.

The other side of this is that, just to be frank, I figured more people would be familiar with Hyperland, which maybe that's a dumb reason lol.

This makes a lot of claims that aren't backed up. It's also not transparent in what base OS it's actually using (claiming "GrapheneOS" makes no sense for a desktop as it is). Avoid.

Sorry, my bad

Arch was the base OS, "GrapheneOS" was like the intent/north star for what I was aiming for.
