Note that the user you replied to has views very close to DHH's. Their comment history is crazy.

Actually it does, thanks to the Ashahi Linux project. I'm using this fork on a M series https://github.com/malik-na/omarchy-mac Dual boot, it's not exactly the same as the main Omarchy, but it works fine out of the box. Software can be limited because not many packages has been compiled for ARM but we are software developers ;)

Almost always you can get the PKGBUILD file from either Arch Linux Gitlab or the AUR gitlab and just add the aarch64 version of the package to it and then install from that. I have an M1 and M2 macbook airs that I use for home/work and I think the only package I've actually hit a hard stop on is discord, everything else can just be built from source if they don't have a bin version..

In this case, I hate to tell you - the owner of the company you work for invested a million into this.

The last state of Omarchy to me was its arch but a script to install that one guys dot files. Nobody has given me a reason to move of Fedora Atomics.

Not a user, but from what I gather it does stuff like synchronize themes of ALL applications across the OS.

So when you change the "omarchy" theme to something, every single application installed uses the same theme. They even paid money to get proper theming support added to software so they could do this.

A bit beyond "dotfiles" IMO.

more like DHH is worth that much. unlike the sister comment, i don't think it is marketing alone, if at all, but rather DHH networking and connections. it might be marketing in the sense that the people funding this believe that DHH is able to attract a lot of people. which is interesting given that he also has attracted some controversy recently.

assuming that devs wanting to get paid to work on FOSS are not as demanding, so maybe 100k per year salary would be enough, then that would fund 80 years of one fulltime dev, or 8 years of 10 devs. 4 years of 20 devs. you get the picture. a lot can be done with that. a lot more if you are willing to fund devs in developing countries who can live on a fraction of that.

Omarchy is not a distro.

if it has a downloadable installer, it's a distro. it may not have been much on top of arch, but with that funding that may well change.

I still have some of those free dvds ubuntu was sending out. But unlike then, nowadays i can actually watch a video on linux without tearing with sound and over working wifi and as of couple years ago even scroll a webpage without tearing
