To see the limits of this argument: surely your YouTube/Instagram/TikTok feed is all stuff that's good for you? Mine isn't either. Why is that? Didn't we choose the contents ourselves?

AI must be shut down. For sake of our race and the planet earth. We cannot afford it. Too energy and water required. A technology is not worth pursuing if it threatens its environment and creator. Losing chances of thinking makes people more controllable. So far, history was that of the thought of human race. Will it turn into that of AI ?

Or maybe those engineers are just not motivated by the same things you are. Or maybe they know something you don't - that deskilling is real and if you keep pulling the magic slot machine lever, eventually you won't be able to tell when it's lying to you. And oh does it. Maybe you just never had those skills in the first place.

I've felt this way alot this year, the year of apathy?? I've been talking about AI and Ethics for over 10 years now on my podcast the machine ethics podcast www.machine-ethics.net and I'm getting to the point that I actually hate talking about it, the influence it has on peoples minds is now massive and present in a way it hasn't been before. It should go the way of Alexa—a good technology a the few not the many (and im thinking cancer research etc here).
