I'm at the point where I don't even want to interact with that mentality. I get it, as I too don't like to see endless slop so there's got to be a quality bar and standards. But when the standard is set to zero tolerance, the whole vibe of the community plummets as the example I pasted shows.
Originally I was for the policy, as there was a lot of low quality content.
But now people are finding their way around the tools and they have gotten a lot better, none of that can be appreciated. Instead, people post a project, they get hissed at, and banned. It can cause a lot of hurt feelings, the rules are fuzzy and don't match how they're applied while the mods say they're crystal clear and even handed.
Meanwhile you go to a programming language community that is pro AI and people are just talking about programming languages and AI. There's not all these weird witch hunts and purity tests. I'd rather just stay away from all that, I prefer AI slop to that.
Not to mention the coolest people I've met in the past 2 years have all been hacking away at AI tech. Creative, enthusiastic, chill people I'm happy to associate with.

might be the case, but as soon as you have read and agree with it, that doesn't make it any kind of "ai slop" :) Is it relevant or helpful? Can I verify it? Are main questions IMO.
Whether you agree with it or not has no effect on whether it's AI slop or not. Outside of math or coding, domains in which there is objective determinism, any AI outputs are slop to the extent they purport to represent the AI's subjective opinion about something. So, an AI proving that 2+2=4 is not AI slop because it's just a formal proof, whereas an AI writing a missive about how 4 is its favourite number would be slop whether you think it has good points/agree/disagree with it or not.
The fact that a site purporting to roast AI slop is itself AI slop is surely somebody taking the piss, and the fact that it has 700 upvotes and is the top story here means that people either simply don't read shit they upvote, or the brainrot is already fully established on HN.

If you work for a company of more than 1 person, then helping and developing and mentoring your colleagues is part of your job, and a more important one than telling them to rtfm so you can spend those few minutes getting your own thing done. A company isn't just a bunch of people isolating themselves and doing their best to not talk to each other.
if they didn't rtfm they are not being respectful of your time. unless you are literally first-day brand new, you should not be approaching a mentor for help getting unstuck without an answer ready for "what have you tried?"

Yes they are. "RTFM" may be an angsty insult thrown around in some toxic open source projects, but it's rude and inappropriate for an actual working environment where you're supposed to (and being paid to) help others. Most time spent at a company at a normal job is collaborating with others.
Your time is not so valuable that you cannot use it to make other people and the company successful, and when you're on the clock, that time belongs to the company anyways, who would likely prefer you do what's best for the company, rather than yourself.
That said, "what have you tried so far" is a good question to ask, too, to coach your colleagues on how to find info, and to get context on what would be retreading their steps.

yes - this is what people are doing in my workplace, unfortunately. you can write the most concise and effective documentation possible for a feature of some complexity, and people will still be asking their chatbot to make a soundbite out of it. it's infuriating.
