Re: Israel creates fake think tank in likely attempt to dupe AI chatbots

I think the "it's just SEO" or "propaganda isn't new" comments are missing the bigger picture. Given how LLMs are effectively being treated as core processing components by so many automations, generating information to skew LLM training could be considered similar to adding a back door to an actual CPU.

For example, if someone writes a generic prompt to flag offensive language, the LLM would flag certain political views whether or not the language was offensive. Causing friction and effectively discrimination against groups of people even though it was not the writer's intention.

An even more serious example would be someone in the military screening targets and the LLM marking a school or hospital as a valid target without the user intending to.

To be clear, I'm not stating that either of these doesn't happen intentionally, but that any manipulation of LLM training data can cause these things to happen when the user did not intend it, and hence it's similar to adding a back door or corrupting a CPU.

I mean, you presuppose a genocide. A lie repeated is still a lie though. All wars are not genocides. Just because we now can see the suffering doesn't make it a genocide (and especially not because of all the fake suffering, like the people "freezing to death" in 20 degree celsius, or that pulitzer prize winning photo of a child with an unrelated disease, etc).

It sure does presuppose that. Because that's not really a factual debate at this point. See my comment higher. I agree not all wars are genocides. This one is. And people can get hypothermia any time their body temp is below 35C. Which, yes, can happen at 20C. (Which you'll note is in fact lower than 35C.)

> It sure does presuppose that. Because that's not really a factual debate at this point. See my comment higher.

But it is. The deaths are surprisingly low for urban warfare even if we accept Hamas numbers. A lot of deaths that are doctors or journalists turns out later to have also been Islamic Jihad or Hamas fighters. The IDF routinely avoided civilians, while Hamas explicitly embedded itself. Israel even vaccinated Gazan children during the war.

You can claim that SOME people from Israel wants a genocide and were trying to do it sure, just like the Bondi Beach attacker was genocidal. But to claim the war as a whole was genocide is absurd. It just falls flat on the numbers alone.

If my worldview required me to dismiss 40% of American Jews as being "confused and brainwashed" to explain away why they would possibly be critical of Israel, I hope I would start questioning wether I was the one "confused and brainwashed" instead.

90% of Americans are confused about geography, but I wouldn't dismiss them as people. But I certainly wouldn't trust their judgment when asked to point to Papua New Guinea on a map for example. I think it's pretty easy to see the difference between those two things, but you try to claim they are one and the same.

Before Israel entered Gaza, "from the river to the sea" was an official plank in the likud party platform, the party of Netanyahu. If "from the river to the sea" is genocidal, then Netanyahu's party claimed the right to Gazan genocide.

Yea, everyone who says that are genocidal or at the very least arguing for ethnic cleansing. That's beside the point.

Saying "from the river to the sea" = Jewish genocide is an ignorant and demented take. Meanwhile Israel is committing an actual genocide right before our eyes and using Judaism as a shield while dragging Judaism's name through the mud and causes increasing anti-Jewish sentiment around the world. Israel is a disgusting European colonialist project and it should be dismantled.

> Israel is a disgusting European colonialist project and it should be dismantled.

See? Why ONLY Israel? Why is Iran not an arabic colonialist project that should be dismantled? Just as example. There's only one country people say should be dismantled and their peoples dispersed and that's Israel. Isn't that strange? And the ethnic cleansing of the entire muslim world that basically caused the current population of Israel to exist is... a european project? How do you get there logically? Europe didn't make Morocco, Libya, Iraq, etc ethnically cleanse all the jews.

It's not disingenuous? The person you responded to linked to articles which said it was one sided. You said the other opposite, but provided no sources. I asked for some. It's a simple request that was made politely --- The whole response is bizarre tbh. Talking about my "sudden" interest. I made one comment. "Deep in the chat". It's quite shallow. I am assuming this is a bot

Someone is defending the side for which there's clear evidence of bots, claiming the other side did too but not providing evidence.

This is what you'd expect to see if the poster were a bot linked to the same PR network.

How many Americans has Israel killed either directly or by proxy ? be specific

At least 34, by the IDF's own admission: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Liberty_incident

I see all you've got from the past 60 years is one tragic friendly fire incident. Iran has intentionally killed thousands of American civilians and service men either directly or through its proxies since 1979, including 43 American civilians murdered and 13 taken hostage on October 7, 2023.

Here's the difference though - Israel is an ally of the United States while Iran is a sworn enemy that has killed thousands of Americans since the 1979 revolution and routinely chants "Death to America". So, not equivalent.

And Iran was once any ally of America too ... there's no reason it cannot be again.

No reason? And how exactly do you see that? The Iran of 60 years ago before the revolution was a completely different country than it is today. It has taken glee in killing thousands of Americans directly and through its proxies, and shouted death to America a gazillion times since.

I always imagine apolitical people looking at a mushroom cloud thinking to themselves "perhaps I should've been more political" moments before their atoms drift apart.

I am not apolotical, how could one be really? It's more like the whole topic is so full of hate, propaganda, missleading information from all sides that it's either I spend a few weeks or months reading into the history of it or I better don't develop a strong opinion because I likely would be wrong in many points. No idea where everyone is taking the time from to read up the whole history of things when they publicl…

It's complicated... but people don't like the mass bombing of kids.

That's not complicated.

We don't need to "guess." When somebody shows you who he is, believe him.

Oh I sure do believe him. I just don't think it means one should be able to make up things regarding what he said on television. As an aside: it's really sad to see how hard it is for people to comprehand complexities. One can be all for Palestinian state, against the war, think of Ben Gvir and Hamas as a similar evil, dedicate decades to mutual work towards peace between Israelis and Palestinians, and yet get some r…

For what it is worth, I agree with you. So there is at least one other person out there who would like statements to remain factual. When the entire topic is already so emotionally charged, it seems even more important to attempt to just stick to being factual.
