Yes, but within Eastern Europe acceptance of Jews is generally higher than acceptance of Muslims, based on polling. Many non-Israeli Jews view Israel's actions as abhorent, particularly younger Jews. Being associated with Israel over the last few years must be a very uncomfortable place to be.

> Many non-Israeli Jews view Israel's actions as abhorent, particularly younger Jews. And this comes of your own polling? As a non-Israeli Jew, I've seen quite the opposite. They closed ranks in the face of an external threat, especially the younger ones. Ignore Hollywood and Hannah Einbinders of the world - that is not the reality.

Re: Eastern Europe - I was referring to the Pew Research Center survey conducted across 34 European countries in 2015–17.

Re: attitudes of younger Jews I'm really referring to Non-Americans (Americans are a special case). With American Jews the age gradient effect is there, but I don't know about the impact of the last couple of years.

Take data points in Europe and attitudes are marked and there is data to support that Israel's recent actions are absolutely being rejected by younger Jews.

News media is considered more reliable in Europe over the US (by measures of the population) so that could certainly be playing into it.

Anglo-/Western and Russian governments have been strategic rivals for more than two centuries. Britain repeatedly sought to limit Russian expansion that threatened its own interests, such as routes to India, access to Caspian oil resources, etc. See also, the Great Game and the Eastern Question. They’re enemies because they want each others stuff. Russia has a LOT of stuff that the British would be quite happy to ‘ma…

> Russia has a LOT of stuff that the British would be quite happy to ‘manage’. And vice-versa, which results in the polite games being played, where everyone knows everyone else is doing shitty stuff to everyone, but nobody will ever admit it because that might cause the shitty stuff to descend into a shooting war, which is something we try to avoid as much as we can.

From approx 2008 on Russia has conducted operations that are in no way ideological but have only the goal to destabilize western nations. Supporting extremist parties of all orientations, magnifying events in their propaganda to maximize discord without any ideological consistency. They also quite frequently kill people on western soil. Sometimes using radioactive and chemical weapons.

Please elaborate when the west has done the same in Russia.

The result of all this is that everyone will hate Israelis, and then thus by proxy, Jews more. The right thing to do would be to stop slaughtering Palestinians. People are not stupid.

That's the whole point. Antisemitism is widely accepted as wrong. Israel goes out of its way to paint any opposition to Israel as antisemitism, trying to piggyback on that sentiment. Conflating Jews with Israel is something both sides engage in. As a non-Israeli Jew who is quite opposed to what the modern state of Israel engages in, I'm real tired of being used as a pawn like this.

It's already been happening for a very long time. The US' "Operation Earnest Voice" happened in 2010/2011[0] And it's not just state actors. Anyone who was online during the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trials was likely inundated with media about that trial. Both of their legal teams utilized bots to drive online discussions[1][2] [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Earnest_Voice [1] https://www.latimes.com/enter…

Why are you being downvoting for sharing this relevant truth, complete with sources?

this is what online discussion will look like in the future thanks to AI, and a handful of hyperwealthy oligarchs controlling said AI

No one is comflating war with genocide, but people need to stop pretending that the existence of a war contradicts the existence of a genocide.

> No one is comflating war with genocide Anyone claiming Israel is committing genocide is quite obviously conflating the two.

Not at all obviously. Israel is committing a genocide. This is not really a matter of discussion... you think several parts of the UN, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, the international association of genocide scholars, the international federation for human rights, Human Rights Watch, the Hague Group, the governments of Ghana, Malaysia, Mexico, China, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Ireland, (and dozens of others), the African Union, the Jewish voice for peace, and dozens of small orgs just all... got it wrong?

Why should I believe a random HN comment warrior over literally hundreds of organizations and governments whose jobs include identifying genocide when it happens? What makes your case so compelling it stands up against all that and what my own eyes see?

No. It's a genocide.

You can defend yourself without genocide. You can imprison people without raping them. It turns out there's more options between give up and scorched earth.

I mean, you presuppose a genocide. A lie repeated is still a lie though. All wars are not genocides. Just because we now can see the suffering doesn't make it a genocide (and especially not because of all the fake suffering, like the people "freezing to death" in 20 degree celsius, or that pulitzer prize winning photo of a child with an unrelated disease, etc).

It sure does presuppose that. Because that's not really a factual debate at this point. See my comment higher.

I agree not all wars are genocides. This one is.

And people can get hypothermia any time their body temp is below 35C. Which, yes, can happen at 20C. (Which you'll note is in fact lower than 35C.)

That fails to explain why trump and other far right pundits are calling Tucker a terrorist for loudly decrying the genocide and the actions of Israel.

Did I say all, anywhere in my post? What in my post suggests that the left or the right is a monoculture?

You failed to cover an important fracture in the Republican party. That there are some big names getting involved with ending the genocide without being anti semitic.

Take one look at Gaza on Google satellite view and it's clear what's going on.

"47% of [American] Jews now view the Israeli government favorably, down from 54% [in 2024]." https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/07/09/americans...

From the article:

How did we do this?

This analysis includes findings from a survey of 12,574 U.S. adults, 10,091 of whom are part of the Center’s American Trends Panel (ATP). The remaining 2,483 respondents include oversamples of Jews, Muslims and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints members from SSRS’ Opinion Panel, Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel and NORC’s AmeriSpeak Panel. We conducted the survey May 4-17, 2026, and it has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 1.3 percentage points.

They drew conclusions about Jews from subset of Jews from 2,483 respondents that included an unknown amount of Jews, Muslims, Mormons, and whoever is a member of Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel and NORC’s AmeriSpeak Panel. I am not sure this is especially representative.

Even so, I don't know if I would characterize 54 to 47 as viewing as "abhorrent" as OP said.
