The part that astonishes me is that in the year of our common era two thousand twenty-six that it's not universally offensive and reviling to post an AI-generated response to another person. If I'm reading something on the internet, I'm either reading it to learn, or I'm reading it to be persuaded. If I wanted the LLM to teach me (thank you, no), I would ask an LLM. I'm reading your website/newsletter/email because I…

it’s not that it’s ai generated it’s that it’s bad.

My coworkers continue to dump hundreds of lines of AI documentation in every PR and every other line of code has between one and ten lines of AI generated comments, talking about the real unlock and how things are byte for byte identical on the load bearing path or how the acceptance ladder is misleading. Features are coming out and metrics are improving, but we’re basically in a post readability code base, with the…

My "favorite" Claudism is when I critique its work and ask it to remove some unnecessary part of the design -- and then the diff has more green than red because it added comments about why the code is no longer there -- the code that was never in the mainline and never asked for!

Is Ai really any more offensive than the templated influencer slop of the past few years? If your favourite creator is engaged in generating this style of content, then I think it says more about your tastes than their morals. Don't smash the like button, don't share and unsubscribe.

Everyone is fighting OP on this extremely reasonable take when some of us are dealing with coworkers that copy slack messages/JIRA ticket comments/PR feedback into Claude and respond with the pasted output as is back like that’s completely acceptable. Like I don’t need to be placated by someone else’s AI agent when I call out something in a PR, especially when they have such an aversion to conciseness and resolution

Fair call, re-reading the original take ... paragraph 1: person to person interaction (your coworker example) - 100% agree

Back in the 00's you would have been allowed to mock, abuse and bully people who did stuff like that in the workplace -- and the shame might have put an end to it. Maybe the loophole is you tell their Ai agent to f' off not them.

Congratulations: now only AI can iterate on your codebase!

Am I the only one who's had Claude almost systematically remove human-written comments? It might be touching one line of actual code in a file, and take advantage of it to remove 20+ lines of actual useful comments. Everybody is talking about the opposite, so I'm wondering if this is rare.

I've definitely seen this. One of my least favorite parts of developing with AI is when I add print statements or small changes and the LLM removes them in the process of doing the next thing. I want to work _with_ the AI, not have it stomp all over my code.

Do you think it's actively deciding to remove them or just not noticing you added them and then overwriting?

I ask because when I started informing it I made personal edits, it stopped doing this kind of thing so often and let me work _with_ it more.

My saved prompt now says never to assume a file has not been edited since the last time it was read between prompts.

How is this? https://claude.ai/share/99bfee0f-bab9-4593-aabb-377e71f1151d

FWIW, I tried to read the AI version first, and found myself bouncing back to the prompt multiple times. The AI version just reads as flat, impersonal, and as if it has had all the corners sanded off (both in style and content). The prompt conveys much more about what _you_ want to say, and is easier to read without zoning out and losing interest. If you must use AI in this way, I'd tell it to take a _much_ lighter t…

Huh, thats really interesting... That sounds a lot better than I expected, and is readable enough for me to edit it.

Thank you :)

Yes, the original prompt is 10000% better than the AI output, because it shows me exactly how much the author (you?) cares about this topic and how much effort they're willing to put into communication, which is barely any at all.

> which is barely any at all Clearly you either didn't read it, misunderstood it, disbelieved it, or just DGAF :)

Overall, I agree. My only problem with the idea is that I'm seeing more and more people just use "AI;DR" to deride an opinion that they don't agree with. It's becoming the new "paid shill".
