Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: Go, Java, Clojure, JavaScript (fullstack), PostgreSQL / MySQL, GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Docker

Senior/staff backend & systems engineer.
I design, build, and own backend services and data models end to end, and go as deep as the system needs — down to production infra and build tooling (recent: GCP VM→Kubernetes and CI/CD unification). At my best designing systems for the failure modes most people only meet in production, and building the tooling that makes a whole team faster. Full-stack when a job needs it, but my value is backend systems design with real ownership. B2B contract, remote in the EU.
I prefer to use AI not to increase throughput but to dramatically increase the quality.Re: Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (August 2026)
#677 Location: UK company (MicroCity Solutions Ltd, reg. 17103353); I work remotely from the Middle East (UTC+3)
Remote: Yes, B2B — you contract the UK company, no payroll or employment friction
Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: Python, PHP, SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL), FastAPI, LLM integration, RAG, OCR / document data extraction, automation pipelines, Shopify & WooCommerce APIs
Résumé/CV: https://microcitylabs.com (two live SaaS products — try them on your own files)
Email: contact@microcitylabs.com
20+ years of database and backend work, PHP/SQL first, Python and AI pipelines these days. My specialty is messy data: supplier catalogs, PDF price lists, scans and product photos in, clean structured records out, every value traced to its source. I built and run two live SaaS products that do exactly that, so you can try the work before you talk to me. Looking for remote contract work, fixed scope preferred: AI/data pipelines, catalog and OCR systems, product data cleanup, Shopify/WooCommerce integrations. One founder, no agency, I do the work myself. Flexible hours, happy to overlap with your timezone.Re: Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (August 2026)
#678Full Stack and AI engineer. A few things I've built recently:
Repo Surgeon: an autonomous codebase-modernization pipeline (Python, FastAPI, Docker) that researches real breaking changes, runs dependency upgrades and security fixes inside a sandbox, and verifies its own generated tests with mutation testing before merging anything. Validated end to end at 46/46 passing tests.
Quill8: a hybrid-retrieval AI assistant for investment professionals, built with FastAPI, LangGraph, and pgvector, combining dense vector search with full-text search through Reciprocal Rank Fusion.
Founding engineer at StrotED, where I built the platform end to end, backend (Node.js, PostgreSQL) through frontend (React, TailwindCSS), for an employment platform with around 2,000 real users.
Co-founded Anchorate, a governance platform for enterprise AI agents that stops risky actions before they cause damage and escalates ambiguous cases to a multi-model panel for a verifiable audit trail.
Open to full-time, internship, or freelance work.

#68015+ years building and running production software, currently a Team Lead / Software Architect at a UK fintech/consumer-services company. The work I actually get pulled into most, beyond the job title: taking over a service after it's already broken and rebuilding it so it stops breaking — production incident response and re-architecture, unofficial but real, no ticket tracker needed, just the git history.
Ten months ago I grew a team from 1 to 7 — hired and onboarded everyone myself, rebuilt the codebase, got real end-to-end acceptance-test coverage running with the whole team's buy-in.
Right now I'm deep in agentic AI/LLM systems as an engineer, not a researcher (there's a PhD in Physics and a published NLP/Transformers paper behind me, but I'm 20 years into building software, not chasing a research title). Currently building: a local-embeddings market-signal tool (Ollama, cosine similarity, zero API cost) that mines sources and ranks them against a role description I wrote myself; a tool-calling agent that turns unstructured regulatory text into a deterministic tax-calculation pipeline.
Looking for agentic AI/LLM engineering, technical architecture, or production-reliability roles — genuine employment or named-delivery consulting.
