Yes it must be hard reading views that are different from your own.
You can't have a very good discussion with someone about something they've made part of their identity in my view. I'm not an instinctive AI booster but nor am I going to bother engaging with people who believe a tool I use is ontologically evil. In order for a discussion to be useful both sides need to be genuinely willing to change their position. It sounds like here neither side is open to change.

#185It's so easy to make fun of the cringe on LinkedIn, that, well, itself is kind of cringe.
Here's what I've realized is interesting about LinkedIn, though. Yes, you're going to get heavily filtered and perhaps self aggrandizing takes.
But, but, but. Please note how easy it would be to get yourself fired from something you posted there.
For what it's worth, what you find on LinkedIn is something that someone is so confident in saying out loud, they're literally willing to possibly lose their livelihood over it. That's a very useful filter.

#186I had linkedin long time ago, then around covid times I reactivated and polished it, tried to be active there, the second time actually, hoping it did change, nope, it was the same as I remembered or even worse, cringe over cringe over borderline frauds with corporate BS, I tried to engage on actual discussion on some posts, nothing. The last straw was in the previous job I guess my boss noticed I am there, so after some time he started asking the team “to be active” and like the posts.. so I deleted it entirely. All that before AI so I imagined now it is far far worse.
But whats worse that it’s being considered as the platform to find “jobs” or engage with peers, so I guess if you can put up with all that cringe it means you are ready to put up with irl cringe once they hire you in their company.

The only times I actually open it up is when either I did something that I would like to remember when I update my Resume at a later date, or when my friends text me to open it up and like their post :)
Yes. There are genuine thought leaders for niche topics, with real posts and discussions. Banking, infosec, finance, etc.
Software development is not niche.
And also Twitter is 5x better for this.
