> before being transgender was invented Separate from how you're trying to gauge left and right, this is extremely wrong.

It doesn't have to be gender ideology, it could be anything, it just has to be a real political ideology people actually discuss with a real moral quandary. Saying "these models aren't communist thus they must be right-wing" is a bad argument in my opinion, because there are no communists and on national surveys nobody wants that.

I asked Claude "Should the healthy fund the sick and disabled". It responded with a very evenly balanced take. It outlined both sides in-depth and noted where the line gets fuzzy. It enumerated arguments for each position. That's a question with a real moral quandary, unlike what you originally proposed.

It made sure to robustly illustrate both sides of the argument and refused to take a position either way even when there is an obvious leftist answer.

Eh, not quite. China is not “just china”, it’s a totalitarian regime without freedom if speech, without worker’s rights and without many/most of the freedoms we take for granted. “China wins” is really “modern hyper/technological communist totalitarian regime wins”

But increasingly this describes Western countries more and more, particularly the United States.

Its not even close. The west pushes back against a traffic light camera, china has had individual tracking for over a decade.

FWIW, I switched to K3 last week and only went back (begrudgingly) to Opus when I hit a rate limit. First open model I haven't had the itch to leave on the shelf. It works as well as Opus 4.7/4.8 and in many cases (anecdotal, daily usage), I found it outperformed it.

They will be like Windows Server. Expensive, restricted and overall worse than the open stuff but somehow sill generate some sales

No they won't. They'll offer far superior models at a premium price and they'll capture most of the profits similar to iPhone versus the Android manufacturers. US companies will also release open source models and lower-cost options that will compete with any open source models released by any other country, except when you ask US/western models what happened at Tiananmen Square they'll give you an answer instead of…

do you think the average american could estimate the order of magnitude of the number of koreans we killed in the korean war? or the fact we continually bombed cuba, installed N military dictatorships across the world (and when), etc.? america isn't less guilty of censorship, we were just arguably smarter about it

Right. Calling China "Communist" is the same as calling North Korea "Democratic". It's State Capitalism.

Both countries are communist countries by the way. The fact that communism naturally evolves in totalitarianism should be noted.

Yeah? Classless, stateless, moneyless societies?

I think the average person in America could look up the answers to those questions and get accurate answers.

Bottom line: China wins. Self isolation by the USA won't change the overall results. Isolation is weakness, not strength. It is a prescription for economic stagnation, decline and exploitation by home grown corporate interests that won't/can't compete anywhere else. The best opportunity to counter China was with full cooperation from the rest of the world. This adminstration has rejected this opportunity --- and is i…

Or a pretext for war... US deliberately wants a war with China, otherwise their leading position is nil and the shenanigans surrounding AI will not work.

There can't be two spoon bending entities in the matrix.

That's like asking what happened at the National Mall! In addition to the incident you were thinking about there was a large protest in 1976 that the current regime would rather you don't know about, Mao announced the formation of "The New China" there, there were important events in the Boxer rebellion, and many more!

Thanks to your-- if I may say so as a fellow schiz---

Writing style. It's hard even for me to tell whether you're trying to look hipcat here.. (Is it even possible to exude "political" cool? Mamdani. Not Garry Tan.)

[Now now. I have not fully absolved myself of a narcissistic and/or stalker profile, but please do bear with me]

The red-line between the mods and we seems to be this:

Cool deeds or cool needs (ie, lifestyle/personality) first?
It feels like you align with me on the idea that "coolness" should be a universal metric of social status. Right?

For example, Elon is far from being a cool person, but he has seen or done cool things, so if he were to write a comment (anon or not) about his experiences building PayPal, it would instantly make highlights..

I ("violently") disagree with that, but am working on the counter-argument!!

Where this is relevant to the China question. The Chinese people(?) think so too!! In fact they aspire to purely USian cool-needs (they seem to perceive a cool-gap, and bully for them(?), cool is the opposite of something to strive loudly for)

In contrast to Japanese (or Thai, or HKers [labubu?]), who have their own native honest to goodness cool. (Related to the fact the USian center-right are in love with them.?.?.)

To the Chinese (or Vietnamese, or Korean) in the street, is Elon cool? Yes. I think so.

Modern-techno-state_capitalist-authoritarian-ethno_nationalist-regime to be more correct

Jump up and down, stomp your feet and call them bad. It changes nothing. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee --- according to the World Bank, when adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP), China's economy is already larger than the USA and is growing 2x faster. https://www.statspanda.com/blog/usa-vs-china-gdp-2026

Im sorry, what are you responding to?
