A number of games (for example the new Halo) aren't actually on the disc or otherwise have mandatory download requirements. The disc is just used as a DRM mechanism. Rockstar is not shipping discs for completely non-technical reasons. Likely some combination of saving a few bucks, stopping people camping out at retailers, and blocking the secondary market.

I think the implication is that the blackout did nothing, and Reddit didn't care. Like this message that really says "I will buy the PS5 anyway."

You know whats the cherry on top? I got it working today and you have to download the actual halo 1 campaign as a DLC from inside or outside the MCC game. Even if I got it working yesterday, I'd have to wait for another download. What the 30GB MCC does initially is still a mystery to me.

Why don't you literally just pirate it. You already own it, so it's not even immoral.

Can't play multiplayer with friends... I think but I'm not sure. It seems to rely on Steam or Microsoft services for regular and modded play.

I did that. Then got a refund immediately. Then quit Steam and never played another fucking game. Then sold the gaming PC. Moved to board games which are tangible and I can play with friends. Extreme? Perhaps but it’s better for me.
