#3The Seattle municipal authorities are entirely to blame for not allowing the police to preserve order. CHOP was a violent insurrection and should have been treated as such from the beginning. Innocent people are dead because the government refused to do their duty and protect their citizens. Unfortunately, Black lives don't matter to these people!

One of the most important functions of police is to be a legible, state-authorized group of professionals charged with using violence to provide security and public order, instead of leaving this order-maintaining violence up to informal community militias.

In order to not abandon the zone, the police would have had to use a severe amount of violence against protesters specifically protesting what they saw as illegitimate police violence (or against people illegally camping, depending on exactly when we're assuming the police made an intervention). The police might well have killed additional protesters in the process of arresting them and preventing the establishment of the encampment. I don't blame the police for rationally concluding that if they had done this, the municipal government would not have backed them up, and the court system would likely have tried to prosecute individual police officers.
