Makes you wonder why; if we can cut steel in half with water, would it be possible to deliver ink to a specified depth with high pressure “ink needles” (microscopic high pressure short burst of liquid ink)? Like a super high pressure inkjet printer. Though, I assume a more practical point might be a robot that would have an ink-feeding extremely fast cycling device for doing tattoos that can complete them in a fracti…
Maybe this belief comes from being a sysad - dot matrix printers never did me no harm, but inkjets are demonic.

#43This is neat for small flash pieces. I’m not sure I want to imagine the process for getting a half sleeve of one’s own design applied this way, fifteen millimeter diameter at a time.
Presumably larger prints will arrive, but you still have the trouble of mapping to a non-euclidean surface. Unless of course you're tattooing Euclid.

My guess is that pressure-blasting the ink will not be more comfortable than driving it in with a physical needle. Maybe this belief comes from being a sysad - dot matrix printers never did me no harm, but inkjets are demonic.

Was this meant seriously? I literally used those graphics 40 years ago (it's from a wonderful program called PrintShop ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41087798 )
The needle grid reminded me of dot-matrix printers which then brought me back to hours spent with PrintShop. The similar resolution and size of this device and PrintShop graphics tickled me with retro-future visions of people sitting at an Apple II picking out tattoo designs to be printed on themselves.

You can't cut steel in half with water. Waterjet cutting requires an abrasive media like garnet to cut through hard materials. Water is simply the power source that accelerates the garnet to Mach Jesus.
