Coding hasn't being 'solved' but its being taught to models which makes coding partially automated making people believe its 'solved'. No model can replace human intelligence and thinking as of now which makes coding still a human job which can be best done by humans, with the increase in vibe coded projects the quality of the software will eventually decline

Yeah I switched to Linux full time at home last year and never even heard of this distro in doing any research about it.
I heard about it but since I also heard it was built by a white supremacist, I'd rather use one that is made by decent people, especially when the added value is only a preconfigured hyprland desktop. So good marketing? Hell no.

#535Just a little gripe, but near the end of the article he links to a site for something called "Omarchy" which appears to be a Linux distribution. If you click on the link, the only information available is in the form of a video. If you're making a Linux distro, please don't do this. I will not watch your video. I was interested, and now I'm not.
Omarchy is basically just Arch with a bunch of configuration. It's not a particularly useful project, and the author is noted fascist DHH. So probably not worth your time.
Unlike arch it installs in 3 minutes and offline.

That is definitely needed. On Mac it is really infuriating how stuff (auto update etc) just take focus/pop up crap. I am literally never interested in it and am confused why I cannot just say [x] Force apps to mind their own business. We have f’ing notifications for this; why does it need a dialog window?
I've really enjoyed how this started happening on windows that some pop ups steal focus during full screen gaming; extra satisfying is that "game mode" is set to prevent that. It's like a little minigame to boost my aggression level.

I really look forward to Pop OS updates... but it's because they broke a bunch of stuff and stripped most apps down to their basics.
Including the linux kernel.
I dread Linux kernel updates. Still running a 4.4 era kernel. Kernel versions have always been hit or miss, some are good, others introduced a new bug. Sometimes it's necessary to upgrade glibc as well which is a huge pain.

Updating glibc is a huge pain.
Using a new version of gcc or clang can cause a lot of problems. I try to avoid updating those.

Why do you need linux preinstalled on a new computer? Take a user friendly distro, boot up the installer, accept the defaults on the few questions it asks... done. It's no more difficult than the first-time configuration MacOS or Windows will walk you through on a new system.
I precisely excluded HN crowd exactly because of comments like this.
First of all that hardly works flawlessly in 2026 laptops, still.
Secondly, this is about regular consumers, not Linux nerds.

Lol because that never happens on any other OS. Plug my Mac into my dock, uses my DAC. Great. Unplug. Connect Bluetooth headphones. So far so good. Plug back into dock. Now it's... the built in audio? Huh? I'm honestly surprised how often in Linux PA with WirePlumber just does the right thing most times, IME.
MacOS is the worst. I got to reconnect my bose bluetooth headset 3-4 times every time I have a zoom call because no sound. On contrast, my linux laptop does not have any issue with the same headset and it gets connected instantly.
Perhaps the parent poster user AirPods. Those in contrast would seamlessly switch between your iPhone and MacBook . Apple more or less by planned design nowadays work seamlessly with their own products and their support for other devices is patchy .
