Patreon laying off 20% of staff

What's your point?

You usually do lay offs because finances aren't doing so good, so you do it to stop the bleeding. Especially if you're a publicly traded company this tells investors you're doing SOMETHING, but for private companies, it's really up to you when and how you do it. I imagine companies with a reasonable war chest that are private try to hold on as long as possible.

I don't know (I don't browse Patreon but just back some creators individually) but what would be the issue about that? Patreon is a content distributor and payment router between fans and creators, I don't expect or want them to police what creators do with that service.

There are so many contradictions in this statement that either the person who wrote it is completely muddle-headed, or just a bad liar.

So is the business strong and consistent, or is it facing a rapidly-changing market, requiring that the business transform and adjust it's cost structure?

So do you think AI doesn't replace humans, or do you think that you'll need fewer humans because AI will be doing more of the work?

Bottom line: How do these layoffs increase the successful outcome of product launches on the platform in any way?
