Do-able in many low-income countries but it'd be borderline miserable, by modern consumption standards.
Sure would. Even in Pakistan, India, Vietnam, Egypt, or etc. where USD goes a long way, a meal is usually at least $1–$3 (and I'd expect someone to eat a meal at least every couple days).
