This process has been carried out, publicly, a few times. Every time the results not only fail to support the current regime's narrative, they actively goes against it. So, the question becomes: "Who is getting kickbacks for this 'deal'?" More importantly, how in the hell it this under the purview of ICE? Agencies and units have strictly outlined mission statements they are not supposed to go outside of. What kind of…

Because he's turned them into his own secret police - they even wear masks to hide their identifies. Fun fact - ICE has only been around for a little over 20 years. It's not some sancrosanct entity that couldn't have its necessary functions moved to entities with some sort of actual oversight and eliminated.

ICE was a reshuffle of the INS and a few ancillary departments but the core functions are continuous. It's like saying Meta has only been around for 5 years, most of the engineers were doing their previous job unchanged by the rebrand.

I can't believe this is how the guise of democracy in this country dies.

I hate to break it to you, but it was never real. It’s always been a sham, a charade, a farce. We’re not even remotely honest with ourselves about much of anything in public… So IMO we get what we deserve.

It was always a sham, but it used to be possible to think that it was gradually getting better. In the 20th century, we extended voting rights to women and 18 year olds, and we put measures in place to protect black voters. The moral arc of the universe did seem to bend towards justice.

It has been really disheartening to find that it can also bend away. Voting was always going to be at least something of a farce, but it genuinely seemed to be better than the alternatives. Now, it's not clear that it is.

It's worth noting that Polymarket (and all other prediction markets using money) has some fundamental problems that cause inaccuracy. Most notably here, the elections are still several months out, so you're asking people to put up 97 cents to get a dollar back in three months. But for that time frame I could also put 97 cents in treasuries and get 98 cents back, so the market won't be accurate within 1% of reality, a…

You can sell your bet at any time, though. So if you put $100 on NO while it's at 3¢ and then sell them next week at 4¢, you're getting $133 back. You're not necessarily betting on the outcome, but on the sentiment over time.

That's true, but then the people you're selling to have to want to buy the shares. And if you're buying YES at 97%, you're not going to be able to sell the YES shares to anyone at much higher - because eventually someone has to hold it to the end.

It's true that this isn't as true for NO, because a small change can give a huge return, but that's asymmetrical. So there's incentive for traders to buy NO, hoping that it moves down, but not an incentive for traders to buy YES, since it doesn't have any room to go up.

If you're a California resident, under the CCPA you can submit a request for Thomson Reuters to both provide you with and then delete any information they have collected about you. The state's even setup a nice portal to automate these requests across 600+ data brokers. https://privacy.ca.gov/drop/

What’s the outcome if you submit a DROP request, less targeted spam phone calls/junk mail?

Doubtful, the ones I still receive come from people faking caller IDs so these are not good actors and can simply continue abusing the system.

The type of people who have been worked up about supposed voter fraud have rejected all existing evidence, so I don't know why you'd expect this go do any differently. Let's not forget that ICE has already admitted to lying directly to courts about the justification for their actions[1]; there's absolutely no reason to enable them in digging for more info. At absolute best, they're in a wild goose chase based on our…

Well presumably they might take this evidence seriously, since this time they're the ones who hired someone to do the research. Which is why I feel (maybe overly) optimistic that this might finally settle the issue.

This is a core misconception about how the 2020 election results have been investigated.

Trump has hired multiple qualified firms to find fraud in the 2020 election and thus far none of the reputable ones have found any.

> they might take this evidence seriously

Whether the cause is global warming, vaccines, election fraud, the effect of gender rights on society, or any one of the military actions being taken by this admin - the only time evidence matters is when it aligns with their previously -held biases and can be yielded as a weapon.

The rest of the time (read: almost all of the time), it doesn't and is swept under the rug or called fake, without any counter-evidence to back that claim up either.

So what does this accomplish? I’m just trying to understand if it’s worth it before sending over PII to register
