Literally yesterday I started getting a login wall for old.reddit. Not sure the targeting rules on this (it’s been sporadic across sessions/devices) but definitely on a mobile browser while on cellular data.

I've seen some weird behavior with it, as well. But I'm fine with it. I visit a single subreddit now and if they destroy the UX I'll only be happier for leaving.

They blocked old.reddit.com unless you are logged in on Monday. I don't have an account on there anymore so that effectively blocks me from the entire platform. Oh well.

I would really just like to stop receiving bot spam because they allow arbitrary uses to "sign in" with your email without any validation.

To which you then receive login codes via email and recommendations to Russian subreddits

old.reddit.com works to bypass that on mobile.

Reddit will delete anything remotely controversial if it contains referenced facts. They banned and deleted my account for simply stating the 5th amendment prohibits requiring incriminating yourself to exercise a right. An Ivy League educated lawyer dug up the comment one year after I posted it, told reddit I was distributing illegal legal advice, and had my whole account nuked.

My real name account got banned for quoting something someone else said. Pretty hilarious in hindsight.

I agree with them. In many of the subs I used to frequent, the outrage is high and the signal is low. LLM really is the best way to consume the content there. Retrieve the new posts of the day/week, filter out the outrage and politics and low-effort Reddit in-jokes/copypasta, then summarize the various comment threads. My time is too valuable to sift through the utterly mind-numbing nonsense to get the occasional new…

To many bots on reddit, so your solution is to go directly to the bot!!?

If bots bury the signal in noise then an LLM is only going go back and give you the summary of the noise.

If you're on iOS, you're out of luck. FF extensions aren't supported.

/. Actually did do that right. You voted on comments and had to judge other votes as to whether or not they were accurate. And limit the + or - to a maximum of 5. Then you don't have people chasing scores. Granted, the voting system was the only thing slashdot did right, but it was good.

Try "RedReader". You can use reddit without the account.

The article is literally about how they’re killing old.reddit.com unless you login.
