LLMs as tech support is truly the singular new reason causing Linux usage to jump atm. All the other reasons are just slowly accumulative. LLMs as tech support is the feather breaking the back of the Windows stranglehold.

If you gave two people with no other knowledge of computer access: Kubuntu and Windows 11

I'm sure they'd have an easier time with Kubuntu, and this gap has been widening for quite some time in the favour of KDE.

The largest issues seem to be either power users doing esoteric things to their systems, or people who want to work the Windows way.

Drivers (for as much as I can tell) are mostly solved, with some minor touch buttons on some laptops being an issue in some cases.

I'm not comparing Linux of 2007 to now, I'm comparing Windows now to Linux of now- the only real edge Windows has going for it is that it's already installed when you buy your computer.

If you are implying that this is the case because this is also how leaders are selected in a democracy, then of course the sarcasm is noted - but here's my real unpopular opinion: Democracy only has value when the majority of voters are not morons. Unfortunately, I can't come up with a better solution - maybe create a model for which there is a wide agreement on and let it rule?

I simply meant that users ought to be free to choose between a product that offers a free ad-supported tier and one that is paid and ad-free. And I do believe that letting morons choose for themselves is the lesser evil.

Kagi is directly funding Yandex by sending search traffic to it, which then in turn funds the Russian state and war.

The guy who started it has previously been here on HN defending Kagi's business with Yandex, and personally I think his arguments are BS. Yandex does not add any special feature or functionality that is so great they should make it obligatory to include as a default option.

Yes, please do. Your support of Russia is the only reason why I stopped using Kagi and paying for Kagi. I really want to like you and use your product.

If you consider supporting a Russian company equivalent to “supporting Russia”, then I assume you are happy to be supporting the United States by using US services… like the one you are on right now.

I don’t know if your claims are true, misinformed, rumors.

On the censor bit all companies operate within the law of the country they are in .
