As always, correlation does not imply causation. Someone who is actively playing with the title of their chrome extension may also be playing with any of a dozen other knobs -- all you've observed is that the lights seem to be on over there.
I was expecting this to be a study of extensions being repurposed as malware or something, instead it's about... not much.
