Logitech all the way. Logitech is a truly innovative company. They actually care deeply about ergonomics. They also introduced the first mass market application of programmable magnets (in the MX Master mouse scroll wheel) - that's incredibly advanced materials science.

I’m no longer sure about their quality though. Out of four Logitech mice I bought recently (four different models), two died within a year. At least their warranty repair/replace process was decent.

The switches on my $80 MX Anywhere 3 failed in under 2 years.

Shame. I really, really liked LG as a brand. On the shit list it goes. Also, and not completely unrelated, we may be slowly approaching times of cruel and usual punishment like tarring coming back. I swear this may be the only way to leave some 'new and exciting way to monetize the market' unexplored. At some point, all that entrepreneurial spirit may need to be penalized. And I am saying this as an MBA.

You know why desktop Linux doesn't have much malware? Because ~no one uses it. That's it. Once you get users, you get malware. The rest of your comment is just as ignorant.

This isn't accurate at all.

The reason people don't get malware on Linux is because they install software through the package manager, via trusted and reviewed repos. And drivers are all built-in to the operating system, not third party (with some exceptions, like nvidia).

On most Linux setups you aren't just downloading random junk from the internet and running it. Also the operating system won't install things automatically for you generally either. Even system updates are optional if you don't want them, and you won't be nagged for it.

Basically it comes down to a difference in culture.

In your mind. Average joes do not even know there is a firewall in windows, which is off by default. Actually none of the games, not even chrome respects the built in Windows firewall. If you have configured a firewall, it will make your life much harder, since almost nobody designs software based on the assumption that a firewall will exist. So almost everyone flies without one.

LG's bad faith actions aside I'd think this also casts significant doubt on MS's running of Win Update.

Why are they allowing mystery crap to be installed on user machines on plugging in a device? All sort of aggressive driver signing rules yet crapware autoinstalls is somehow cool? MS wtf are you doing?

It may seem extreme, but we need laws about digital breaking and entering/assault that cover things like this. It is being done specifically to harm you and without your consent or knowledge. That is assault. We just, as a society, need to start naming things what they actually are and treating them that way.
