Eh, you ride a bike long enough and you're more or less forced into this level of hostility toward the drivers around you.

The number of times I was almost killed, both by inattentive drivers and people who think They Are The Law and have the right to swerve over the lines to stop me from filtering up to a light, is absolutely insane (It was fully legal). Getting flashbanged is a light sentence.

My favorite was when it would set off their car alarm, while their car is on, and there is seemingly no way for them to disable it.

Sometimes they would put their car out so far that my handlebar could not help but go fully through their $1700 side view mirror, which is thankfully designed to crumble like a paper cup.

It happens (FL). I haven't experienced it personally, but it's floated frequently enough in local news. Bicycles, I just take the full lane. Local bike lanes are suicide lanes. Brake or pass. Honk at your own peril. Never had these issues in CA, NY, NC.

I don't think people in Real Cities understand how nice they have it. Now that I'm back in suburbia, I would never even dream of attempting to ride a bicycle anywhere.

It's a death wish to even attempt walking half a mile up to the corner store. Nobody stops at the stop signs, if you see a car coming you have to stand and wait for them to stop.

Everyone has very dark front window tints, you cannot see their faces, so you don't know if they can see you or not. Most of them do not have the self awareness to flash their lights to indicate that you're good so it's a really awkward standoff until they get impatient and honk.

it runs knobbly tires so just going to slicks would probably help a lot, but i don’t think the transmission is built for it.

I mean yeah, stock is one thing, but when WRX owners build it out, it's usually slammed and sometimes embarrassing levels of negative camber. Rally builds are rare, even though the AWD and (for the current gen WRX) the cladding would suit it.

It's shocking how loud even small ICE engines are. I drove a Geo Metro back in the 90s, with it's tiny little 1.0L motor (with 45 and 1/2 angry little horses-- and the half horse is the angriest of them all) and between the exhaust resonator and muffler rusting out I got to hear how loud a little motor is. Shockingly loud.

Think about how much louder a gas mower is than a car. They're insane!
