Idk about SF but in LA I've definitely seen people with pipes doing the fent lean at train stations

Perhaps sometimes a simplistic take like this is true - people destroying just for the sake of destruction and indifferent to the target. However when destruction is targeted toward specific brands or toward infrastructure being used for specific purposes such takes can no longer be true.

Boycotting Waymo? Sure, it sends a message. Bashing in a car so someone else can’t ride it? It just makes the other side look like the good guys and their side look like the bad guys. Is that what they intended? No, obviously not, they just wanted an excuse to do property destruction.

This is why protests are hard. You have to somehow keep it peaceful by dissuading hooliganism who are ultimately attracted by the chaos to do carnage. Those hooligcans aren’t on your side and don’t care about your cause, they just want to bash things in and do some looting. They might as well be working for ICE with the bad rep they are giving to the anti-ICE protestors.

I kind of assumed the car would be locked (from the outside)? Like most regular cars have the option to.

The Waymo I saw the other day, one guy stopped the car, the other broke the window and snatched all the goodies from the occupants.

The policy of my local government is subject to a number of constraints beyond my personal desire for transit between points that are relevant to me and my lifestyle. I live in a place with pretty good public transit, but I still routinely drive to a place 3 miles away from me, because all the bus routes that take me there are indirect and would add an hour to my round trip.

I've had a few similar cases, often teenagers on bikes coming dangerously close (e.g. forcing waymo to sudden break) and last one one bicyclist just blocking me for 5-10 minutes in SF (also just to be an asshole), with a street full of cars behind all blocked. I called the "connect to support" button and they could not anything. This is the only negative experience I had with Waymo; and I am hope something is done to…

$100 per month is way, way too cheap for unlimited rides. That's about 10x cheaper than the amortized monthly cost for owning an average car, without the headache of doing maintenance. They'd be losing a ton of money on each subscriber.

That averages out at 220 reports a day, which kind of sounds like a lot to me.

Keep in mind that Uber does like 30 million rides per day.
