This isn't the gotcha you think it is. Every time I try Vivaldi I am right back at Firefox and I am surely not alone. I have never understood the obsession with tree style tabs or vertical tabs. I don't need to customise my browser at all and I like supporting engine diversity.

went from Firefox to Vivaldi, never looked back for many years on Android phone tried many, most recently was using Kiwi Browser, then for some time Firefox until they fucked up UI, so moved to Cromite, though my phone broke (never buy Google Pixel again, first broken phone after 15 years with smartphones and various brands including very low budget), so now I am on my old phone which for some reason doesn't support…

I use cromite also.Your old phone may work with version 138.0.7204.184 I believe uptown app store offers that version.

I've never had to configure anything in uBO, it works great out of the box. Therefore uBOL experience is practically the same. I haven't seen a single ads in months of browsing.

The author said clearly this was site dependent.

I was thinking to cynically ask a Googler I know to raise an internal ticket. The new page could be just:

  1. Stop asking pesky questions.
  2. Add Gemini buttons into everything.
  3. If problems, see 1.

There is a meme that Google financially supports Firefox development as some soft of strategy whereby having an "alternative" to Chrome gives Google some sort of "protection" This does not make any sense and there is zero evidence to support it Firefox's value to Google could be as a source for browser development. As part of the agreement between Google and Mozilla, perhaps Google gets more than just search traffic…

I switched to FireFox like 8 years ago, but to be completely honest there are maybe 2-3 very important sites that straight up do not work for me at all with FireFox. Like, completely unusable, not just weird graphical issues.

Such as?

YouTube is an example of a site that Firefox has trouble handling.

Unsure if its a Firefox bug, Google pushing nonsense or uBlock Origin but constantly the YouTube UI Lags, video playback buffers, freeze, etc. Some days its near unuseable on Firefox, but I push through.

That's pretty okay spec laptop, stuttering happens only in YT on Firefox (even at 360p), never in chrome (even at 4k), or on any other site. Up to date Fedora, always recent kernels (happens on all), everything pretty much latest, symmetric 1Gbit Ethernet + fibre uplink, etc, etc. If you'd look it up you could see its not a single person problem, it's seemingly random.
