I have also done it. My MacBook Pro felt like a torture to use until I filed the edges. Much better now.

One of my favorite pastimes. There's a facebook group I'm in that has a member that ran over some old plastic part of his car that people pay good money for and the amount of chaos it caused in the group was indescribable. I watch the video anytime I need a good laugh

I hate the tap to click, so that's probably our difference. I really want to physically click, and a tap should do nothing. I always get fake clicks in the other case.
Dragging also becomes more natural when you have a real click.
The trackpad is also big enough to easily cover the whole screen.

#615To anybody who wants to try this at home: consider wearing a face mask while you do the filing. The author mentions taping off speakers etc. to protect the machine's internals from aluminum dust, but don't forget to protect your own body, too. Aluminum exposure has been linked to Alzheimer's, and inhalation likely poses particularly high risk, compared to ingestion.

I've heard this but I've personally been typing this way for 25+ years (wrists on the rest, including on laptops exclusively for the last 15) and my wrists are fine. Meanwhile people I know with ergonomic keyboards and everything that's supposed to save your wrists are the ones with bad wrists.
The reasonable takeaway from that correlation is that people with preexisting issues turn to ergonomic keyboards to avoid worsening those issues, not the other way round.

Yeah, I wear a wrist band as well. I've used these ( https://www.vivehealth.com/products/wrist-support ) for some years now but they've since changed the material to something with less give. Do you have a brand you'd recommend?
Not really. My almost favorite solution was to get gloves with touchscreen finger tips but I couldn't find a good one that has the touchscreen material go all around the tips which makes certain touchpad gestures annoying to do.
Any wrist band has been "good enough" for me so far though

The Apple way for hardware is more to design the thing so it breaks under normal use very quickly, and then refuse to replace it under warranty.
I know we're trolling here, but my Apple hardware has lasted way longer than my non-Apple hardware, from watch to phone to laptop.
