This kind of stuff makes me want to leave the industry:(

Don't let it get to you, software is used for much more horrible stuff in the world (I'm glad you seem unaware of it so far if this is the worst you've come across) but that shouldn't let us impact the good stuff we build with it. Letting things like this get the best of your emotions just makes it harder for you to focus on healthy, happy and impactful projects, so please don't let it get to you.

I am aware of it. That is the problem. AI is going to grease the wheels of the horrible stuff of which you speak. Not only that it will concentrate important decisions in the hands of fewer people.
