It's representative democracy so we can choose which party who will misrepresent us. Then choose another one which will misrepresent us. It's about time that idea was crushed and we moved to voting on policies rather than parties and personalities. There isn't a one size fits all party.

A good example is the UK Labour party. People want the social side of their policies but not the surveillance. They could have voted for the social policies and against the surveillance. But no we have to eat the surveillance if we want the social policies.
