Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (August 2025)

#1
Please lead with either SEEKING WORK or SEEKING FREELANCER, your location, and whether remote work is a possibility.

Please only post if you are personally looking to hire a freelancer or work as one. Agencies, recruiters, job boards, and so on, are off topic here.

SEEKING FREELANCER | Fusionbox | Python + TypeScript Engineers | Denver, CO | REMOTE (Legal to work in the US)

We're a software engineering consultancy that builds enterprise software the right way. We negotiate the right to open source all our client code, maintain a handful of popular libraries, and our engineers contribute to Django core. We sponsor PyCon, DjangoCon, and Django Girls because we're invested in the ecosystem we build on.

We're looking for software engineers who value software design, system architecture, and collaboration. You should be comfortable with about half of these areas and eager to learn the rest: web application security, relational database design (PostgreSQL, beyond "SELECT *..."), Django internals, React, and distributed systems. What you'll actually work on: complex state machines for financial workflows, multi-tenant architectures with row-level security, custom database functions when the ORM isn't enough, and React frontends that handle real-time data without being a mess of useEffect hooks.

We're a small team where you'll own features end-to-end (database design to React components) and have opportunities to shape technical decisions. You'll get paid to write source code with a team that practices empathy and values work-life balance. If you've ever wished your job involved more elegant state machines and fewer marketing landing pages, let's talk: info@fusionbox.com.

SEEKING WORK | Romania | Remote only

Ex-Google engineer, 10+ years in software, last 2+ focused fully on GenAI. I take projects from idea to production.

Recently built an end-to-end evaluation pipeline for a security platform’s GenAI search (RAG), improving retrieval quality and minimizing hallucinations.

Tech: Python · LangChain · RAG/evaluation · Prompt engineering · React

Past work spans agentic workflows, prompt frameworks, GPT-powered tools, and full-stack AI products.

Prefer working directly with stakeholders. Big fan of startups.

SEEKING WORK | Remote | AI Infrastructure & Performance

Location: Wisconsin

---

Last September I built an AI inference tool that hit #3 on HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41620530). It processed 17.3M messages in 24 hours and only cost $17 to run.

I specialize in:

- LLM inference optimization (FastAPI, proper batching, memory management)

- CI/CD pipelines for ML deployments

- Making AI systems cost-effective at scale

Recent work: FrankenClaude (reasoning injection experiments, https://thelisowe.substack.com/p/frankenclaude-injecting-dee...), self driving Rocket League (https://thelisowe.substack.com/p/building-an-ai-that-plays-r...), diffdev (AI-powered code modification tool, https://pypi.org/project/diffdev/).

Previously at Sprout Social where I built their ML inference platform - reduced deployment time from 6 months to 6 hours and cut AWS costs by $500K/yr.

Looking for interesting problems in AI infrastructure, performance optimization, or building products from scratch.

Tech: PyTorch, FastAPI, K8s, Docker, AWS, ONNX
