The original tweet only speculated that it might work, but the article mentions and links to another about actual succesful attempts: "Tech News reported that the fake passport generated using ChatGPT-4o successfully bypassed basic KYC checks used by fintech platforms like Revolut and Binance".

#5I don't see anything here you couldn't already do with Photoshop. And it sounds like he hasn't actually tested it - just made a big claim. Most of the KYC systems are using multiple authorisation items. If they were just verifying the photo they would be easily hackable without LLM's.

#6Now that porn sites in some areas require a government identification to access, it's just a matter of time before their verification system get tested by this. If they're going just on appearance without a database check on the backend, soon every high school kid is going to know about this workaround.

Just like a computer doesn't do anything you couldn't already do with pen and paper. In reality, most technologies are "just" vast speed-ups or cost-reductions of things that are already possible.
Agreed regarding the KYC claim though.

This is sadly a prime example of how mis-information is created/spreads...
