#2The data is wildly incomplete http://www.ohloh.net/. They only include perl modules EXTERNALLY hosted to CPAN. They don't include any ruby gems hosted at Ruby. So Python looks huge because it doesn't have any sort of organized centralized repository that people use, same with PHP.
