Gore in 2000 is one of the US' great missed opportunities. Having a president at the time who understood the science behind global warming would have been a game changer. (To say nothing of not invading Iraq)

This is such a butterfly effect/singularity situation that it becomes layers-upon-layers deep as you start unpacking it.

If this was true, why for decades have they been so concerned about which countries immigrants were coming from and so unsupportive of attempts to provide legal means to get the workers businesses need while opposing penalties for the businesses which hire people who can’t work legally? This situation isn’t new, there have been so many discussions for decades, but we’re still locked in the situation where businesses depend on Spanish-speaking workers but too many Americans oppose legal ways for them to work here.

Blaming Kennedy is not supported by the absolute crushing Carter got by himself in the 1980 election, losing the electoral college 489/538 (4th biggest in history). I'm amused by the fact that everyone always blames the person who has been explicitly isolated from having any economic power, the president. The electorate just seems to bully the president in this regard.

While I agree with the general sentiment, I think the same could have been said regardless of which candidate won. It feels like the left moved left, the right moved right, and instead of catering to moderates, threatening them to pick a side. Said another way, I think a young Jimmy Carter type candidate would have wiped the floor with either side this election.

"Both sides" doesn't really correspond with reality though. She made a concentrated effort to reach out to people on both sides, including the Cheneys, of all people.

Associating with Republican party establishment types like the Cheneys is a giant middle finger to far more people than it isn't.

gonna leave the insults aside but just focus on it has consistently been about illegal immigration … during the last GOP rein what exactly was done to curb illegal immigration? absolutely not a damn thing. you take away covid years when we got locked up in our homes and everything was shut down and you won’t see any difference between obama’s 8 years and party that apparently is “consistent about illegal immigration”

don’t fall for that - illegal immigration is strictly election issue - republican love nothing more than exploiting illegal immigrants for personal gain (especially most vocal states like texas)
