Branding is a very weak moat outside fashion industry and similar places - outside visible status symbols. It's a relatively strong moat for clothes, watches, even things like the iPhone.
But for things you do alone at home, this quickly goes away. Uber is a strong brand, everyone associated non-taxi taxis with Uber. When Bolt came around in much of Europe, and offered the same service with better wait times (they were paying drivers more, so lots of drivers switched), people moved over to Bolt in droves.

I'm surprised by OpenAI's resilience through all this drama. It's impressive to see how far they've come from 2017 to 2024. This journey has given me a whole new appreciation for startups and the individuals behind them. Now I better understand why my own past mediocre attempts didn't succeed.

Why would I need to choose just one? He’s the only person with a serious presence on the planet. He builds a landing pad that works exclusively with his rockets, and ANYTHING that happens on the planet will be going through him. Hell, he can probably convince China or the US to pay to build the habitats if he wants to.
But nothing will be happening on the planet, except a few rovers, because there is nothing of value whatsoever on Mars that is not literally a thousand times cheaper to find/do on Earth.

Facebook didn't censor themselves.
Mark admitted the source of the censorship on Rogan's podcast and again doubled down on this fact with a letter to Congress.

He's already made hundreds of billions of dollars though? A permanent Martian colony is an incredibly ambitious endeavor and even with a trillion dollars there's a reasonable chance the colony fails.
I don't think Elon is driven by money per se. I think he just wants to see expensive cool shit happen in his lifetime.
I wish he'd choose to do expensive cool shit that helped people or cured diseases and stuff.
