2.7 liters to 3.7 liters of water per day?? That's got to include the water we get from food, right? Is anyone here seriously drinking 128 ounces of water per day? I'd always heard 64 ounces as a guideline, but that's like half. How could the guidelines vary by that much?
I start my day by pounding a liter of water. Usually do a second within a couple of hours of starting work. The initial bolos of water is effective at waking me up for the day. That it is not furthering my chemical dependence on caffeine is a double bonus to maintaining hydration.
