Well that’s the point of a DIY project, you are going to do it (if that’s the kind of project you want). I wasn’t saying you should build this thing yourself because the busy bar is bad, I was just giving some more data to the original commenter who said you can build something similar yourself for much cheaper.

I'm more in project management these days. It makes me laugh when an engineer says "I didn't get any work done today, as it was all meetings" - means I don't work for 20-30 hours/week. The trick is balance for the role. Ah ok, yes, not every hollow metal part has to be milled from a block. I was saying that because the original comment mentioned the iMac, which is milled from solid material AFAIK. I probably should have made that more clear.

I have been Principal engineer at a company you have heard of, and hands-on CTO at multiple start-ups. I feel qualified in stating that my views hold across multiple job roles, from engineering to project management.
