I really don't understand the obsession with the idea that I must somehow be interested in something just because somebody else said it. I've been offered free newspapers before - I told them thanks, but I don't have a cat.

Ah, I can clarify that.

The vast majority of people aren't very good at avoiding temptation.

But when we look at the choices people make, "avoid temptation" is not a universal correct answer. I'm not suggesting people be ascetic monks.

So if we look at people facing some tempting choice, I might estimate that 99% of them are generically bad at resisting, but of the people that give in only 10% of them are actually making a mistake.

I have noticed this among my children as well. We decided very early on that we won't have a TV at home once the children arrived. They have shown far better reading skills than their peers in school who are glued to the screens. Their peers who have mostly avoided TV also show similarly improved reading skills and also a desire for reading.

That's not the point I'm making. The point I'm making is Twitter has been too ubiquitous and important for you to have never clicked a submission at this site or a link to it somewhere, and not just accidentally.
