How can a product that hasn't shipped yet be 'ahead of the curve'? I have an iPad in my bag right now. Microsoft aren't even on the curve yet. Apple also started blending elements of the iOS UI into OS X, such as multi-touch gestures over a year ago. Maybe MS will leapfrog them. Surface does look interesting, I'm not discounting it, but we'll have to see where Apple and Microsoft stand relative to each other when Sur…

I got my first Windows tablet device over 10 years ago.

You might want to reevaluate your position or possibly realize you're an Apple fanboy.

I'm not sure I'd call it "ahead of the curve". They are on the right track for the most part, but there are key aspects here that are not obvious that I think MS is a little blind to (which is too complex a topic to go into here). According to yet more reports the HTC One X actually holds this title. In part, due to a level in industrial design that samsung has yet to achieve. Disclosure : I own a One X. I waited for the SIII announcement but the minute I saw the SIII i ordered my One X.

That is an unfair question: one individual cannot be expected to produce sites which compete with an entire international company's output.

It would be a lot more reasonable to ask him to show competitors within a similar industry who have produced a better launch site.

I'm not looking to replace my primary computer. I'm looking for a secondary device (one device, not 2 or 3) that can do a handful of things that I most often need.

The main reason I want to hook a device like that with my TV is so that I can download and watch movies (from torrents). AFAIK you cannot do that on the iPad. I'm I mistaken?

Absolutely. Apple's vision for tablet-computer integration is to dumb down the computer. Microsoft can't afford to do that.
