I've been using Arkenfox to turn off all the telemetry/etc but it increasingly feels like a game of whackamole.

Only reason I still use Firefox is because of TreeStyleTabs/Sideberry, still nothing like it for Chrome so on Firefox I remain.

Just a shortcut for anybody trying to find it. "Remember, you can always opt out of sending any technical or usage data to Firefox. Unless it's about showing me ads yet again.
Mozilla is supposed to be better than this. I don’t really see anywhere else to go though if you want a web experience that works out of the box (non-free codecs and the like).
