No US universities, I guess they can easily get way better paying internships.
Well maybe that's because I've never even heard of the Summer of Code until right now, and I would've applied had the deadline not already passed. I wish they accepted late application, I would love to do open-source work! -MIT '14

How much are internships usually paid in the US? For some parts of the world (developing, especially) the GSoC stipend is ridiculously high.
Internships in the Us pays 3000 to 7000 per month vs Gsoc which pays 5000 for 3 months.

Yeah, I feel like there's no way they'll accept a late application a month and half late. Rough. Do you think there were any drop-outs that left an open spot? I think I could catch up to speed with the rest of the students quickly, they haven't really done actual work yet.

I've been told almost all get more which is good because that seems quite low.
